Career Opportunities
After completing our Sustainable Interior Design programme, there are many career opportunities available in the industry. Graduates may go on to work as sustainable interior designers, upcycling specialists, or eco-interior decorators. Other possible career paths include working in design studios, architectural firms, or in the retail industry as visual merchandisers. Our students may also choose to work for themselves as independent consultants or start their own sustainable interior design businesses.

Here are some specific examples of career opportunities:
- Sustainable Interior Designer: Design spaces that are environmentally friendly and energy efficient. This can include selecting materials that are safe, healthy, and sustainable, such as recycled and reclaimed materials.

- Upcycling Specialist: Take materials that would otherwise be thrown away and turn them into something new and functional. This can include repurposing furniture, creating new decor items, or designing unique fixtures.

- Eco-Interior Decorator: Work with clients to create sustainable and eco-friendly spaces. This can include selecting materials, furniture, and decor that are environmentally friendly and designing spaces that promote sustainability.

- Design Studio Employee: Work for an interior design studio and assist with design projects. This can include tasks such as selecting materials, designing spaces, and creating presentations.

- Architectural Firm Employee: Work for an architectural firm and assist with interior design projects. This can include tasks such as designing interior spaces, selecting materials, and working with other members of the design team.

- Visual Merchandiser: Work for a retail company and create visually appealing displays that promote products and brands. This can include designing window displays, in-store displays, and creating marketing materials.

Progression
Graduates who achieve the required standard may progress to Universities. Examples of progression courses included which may require a Portfolio:

1. Choose Your Course

- Visit the College (Advisory Meetings, Open Days, College Awareness Week)

- Talk to our Guidance Counsellor or Course Coordinator

2. Make Your Application:

When you have decided on your course(s) you should:
- Complete our online application form. You must have a valid email address, mobile number, and your PPSN number to apply online.

- All applications are acknowledged through our online Enrol system. The status of your application can be tracked 24/7 by logging into your Enrol account, which is created for you when you first apply.

3. Advisory Meeting

- Soon after making your online application you will receive an email and text from the College inviting you to view our online Information Session, or attend one of our regular Open Advisory Meetings where any questions can be answered in person.

- Admission to courses are advisory in nature, though some entry criteria apply to all our courses. Leaving Cert/Leaving Cert Applied or its equivalent is normally a requirement, though the College can look at individual cases where criteria may not be met. The advisory meeting also ensures that mature students (over 23) are matched to the right course.

- Following this session/advisory meeting, you will receive an email with details on how to accept your place on the course.

4. Accept Your Place
When you decide to accept your place:

- A non-refundable deposit of €50 can be made by credit or debit card through the Website. The College is a cashless centre and will not normally accept cash or cheques. If you have any issues making your payment please contact the college.

5. Registration and Induction

- Induction and orientation sessions take place at the commencement of courses in September.

- The College will notify applicants of induction and commencement dates, details of fees and the academic calendar.

Our Sustainable Interior Design programme is a one-year full-time course that provides students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies to explore sustainable aspects of interior design. This programme is suitable for those who are passionate about sustainable design and want to make a positive impact on the environment. Our students learn how to reuse, reduce, and recycle using upcycled materials to create smart spaces. We offer a range of core and elective modules to help students develop their design skills and gain valuable work experience in the field.
