If you hold a QQI Level 5 award in animal care assistant, equine studies, or equine breeding, consider advancing your studies in Animal Science. This Level 6 award builds on your existing skills to prepare you for supervisory roles or higher-level study options. It equips you with comprehensive knowledge and competence in animal science and can facilitate advanced entry into degree programmes at thirdlevel institutions.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of the Level 6 programme can apply for advanced entry into Level 7 or 8 degree programmes at universities and technological universities across Ireland. Alternatively, they may seek employment in various business and industry sectors. This course also provides pathways to veterinary nursing degrees at major universities. TU Dublin accepts it for general science and bioscience degrees. It links with General Science and Agricultural Science at UCD, and graduates have progressed to studies in Wildlife Biology (MTU Tralee), Marine Biology (ATU GMIT), and Bioveterinary Science (Technological University of the Shannon, Athlone and MTU Tralee). Some graduates find work in animal behaviour, dog grooming, animal welfare, stables, and kennels, or use the qualification to apply for a wide range of courses in the UK.
On successful completion of a relevant Level 5 award and this Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Animal Science 6M5153, students may meet the requirements for the Green Certificate and Young Trained Farmers status.
