This one-year full-time course equips learners with the vocational, technical skills and knowledge needed to enter the field of content creation and social media marketing. Entry Requirements
Education: NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees (Please refer to Information for International Learners) *Each provider may have additional requirements, not outlined above.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.
Careers / Further progression
This course will be relevant to those interested in pursuing a career in games design. Opportunities include games tester, games programmer, character and environment artist and games animator. There is also a possibility of future opportunities in media production and design.
It also provides foundation skills for further study in Game Design and Digital Media.
Having completed this programme, learners may progress to QQI Level 6 6M5132 Advanced Multimedia and Web Development in LCFE

There are no tuition fees payable to the College by EU nationals. However, learners are liable for registration and examination fees. Registration fees vary depending on programme choice. Applicants will be informed of individual programme fees and possible exemptions at interview.
Means-tested Student Maintenance Grants are available to qualifying learners. The administration of these grants was handled by the former Vocational Education Committees (VECs) up to the 2011/12 academic year. A new ONLINE ONLY grant applications system was introduced in the 2012/13 academic year. All applications have to be made online to Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI), the single Awarding Authority for all new student grant applications, through www.susi.ie. Creative Media (Content Creation for Digital Media)

This one-year full-time course equips learners with the vocational, technical skills and knowledge needed to enter the field of content creation and social media marketing. The coursework is designed to explore current industry trends and practices and places particular emphasis on audience engagement and brand development.
The scope of the curriculum ensures that graduates are armed with multidisciplinary skills that can be used in both the media production and customer service industries. This includes development of skills in audio and video production, photography, as well as advertising and digital marketing.
Project work typically includes development of a personalised blog or social media profile, the curation of tailored digital content for Instagram and TikTok, investigation of podcasting and streaming platforms such as Spotify and YouTube, as well as examination of the practices that drive online engagement and brand development.
Work Experience is provided on campus where learners work directly with College Management to develop marketing campaigns that align with the College’s overall promotional strategy. Not only does this working partnership enable learners to gain real-world experience, it also facilitates the building of personal portfolios and employment references that can be used for future job applications.
On successful completion of this course learners are awarded a 120 credit NFQ level 5 Major Award in Creative Media
Learning Outcomes
• To facilitate the learner to explore Creative Media with a view to re-skilling/up-skilling and exploring concepts and subject areas that may interest the learner in future programmes or employment
• To enable the learner to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge related to the creative arts and media
• To enable the learner to exercise judgment and skills in selecting and creating appropriate content.
• To familiarise the learner with important study areas relating to Creative Media such as communications, languages, political, media and social studies, so that the learner can gain a well-rounded approach to the study area.
• To provide a programme of learning that is vocational in nature and flexible in structure so that the learner has the maximum opportunity to improve his/her academic and vocational literacy, numerical, ICT and planning skills while participating in the programme
• To afford the learner opportunities to enhance his/her confidence and ability to develop the skills to reach his/her full potential
Upon completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competencies to undertake various roles within creative media and/or digital marketing. This may include social media account management, content creation, brand development, photography, sound-recording, podcasting, video editing or social media influencing. Successful completion of this NFQ Level 5 will also enable graduates to progress to higher programmes of study in various related disciplines
