Hide-BACK TO EDUCATION INITIATIVE (BTEI)
The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Hide-Education: It is expected that Learners availing of this programme will come from diverse social, economic and cultural backgrounds. This may include those of all ages who have less than second level education, have gaps in their educational achievement to date and those who wish to return to learning to take on a new task or learn a new skill in a personal capacity or role. Learners will have appropriate reading, writing and numeracy skills. It is therefore expected that Learners availing of this programme will be at the levels of knowledge, skill and competence associated with the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) Level 2.
Aptitude: The Learner participating in this programme will have expressed an interest in improving their literacy, numeracy, ICT and planning skills and will be willing to learn skills in new areas such as nutrition, a language or a craft.
Previous Experience: Learners will have appropriate reading, writing and numeracy skills. It is therefore expected that Learners availing of this programme will be at the levels of knowledge, skill and competence associated with the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) Level 2.
