The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Aptitude: The learner will have the capacity to take some responsibility for his/her own learning and demonstrate autonomy in a classroom setting where there is supervision provided.

This course is for anyone who wants to build on their maths and computing skills and to examine the application of number to familiar real life situations. It looks at maths in our everyday and most importantly shows how learning maths can be interesting and fun.
The Information Technology Skills subject is designed to develop skills in data entry, word processing and using the Internet.
Maths Level 4 Objectives:
To achieve an understanding and application of a range of mathematical skills
To perform calculations accurately and logically
To facilitate the learner to apply mathematical formulae to real life situations
To facilitate the use of mathematical equipment competently
To build on existing knowledge of algebra
To use appropriate data-handling techniques in collecting, displaying and analysing data
To encourage learners to acquire greater independence in developing/applying their own skills
Information Technology Skills Objectives:
To increase learner understanding of and use of computer hardware and application software
To enhance leaner ability to manage information using IT including creating, storing and accessing files.
To develop learner confidence and competence in using a wide range of tools, icons, functions and software applications for personal and working life.
To develop learner skill in carrying out word processing tasks accurately and efficiently including document creation, formatting, enhancing, editing, spell checking and printing.
