The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

This course gives students the necessary skills to work as care assistants in a variety of healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, clients own homes and residential centres.

Skills and tasks include practical caring tasks such as; assisting with toileting and bathing, managing meal times, assisting with dressing and mouth care and using relevant aids and equipment, lifting and handling of clients.

Duration
One Year, Full time.

QQI Level 5 Award

Progression

This course prepares students for work in the Healthcare area.
Students may also wish to progress to a range of Nursing Degrees or other related areas.
