The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

This course provides the successful learners with a nationally accredited award in the theory and practice of Early Childhood Education and Care. The learner will gain knowledge, skills and the competence to work independently and under supervision in a range of Early Childhood Care and Education Settings. Early Childhood Care and Education Worker in Pre school, Creche, Classroom Assistant, Special Needs Assistant, Children’s Nanny.
This course runs in the evening time over two years.
The following components are scheduled to run from September 2017 to June 2018: Early Care & Education Practice; Early Childhood Education and Play; Child Health and Well Being; Approaches to Early Childhood Education.
Please note each of the above components has a credit value of 15 and in order to achieve a major award in “Early Childhood Care and Education” you need to have 120 credits. As part of the overall major award 120 hours work experience must also be achieved and certified by a Supervisor within work placement.

Learning Outcomes

FREE to those who are on Social Welfare/Medical Card provided their highest level of education is less than Upper Second Level Education (those who did not complete Leaving Certificate) or that they completed Leaving Certificate 15 years ago or more (& do not have a higher level qualification)
