The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Education: Learners do not need any previous formal qualification.
Aptitude: Learners who are ready to take on new tasks, can follow direction and are moving towards independent learning.
Previous Experience: No previous experience required. Suitable for learners who wish to progress to employment or further education and training through the attainment of a QQI level 3 major award.

The purpose of this course is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to develop a range of Construction skills, under supervision. The course is suitable for those who may be considering a career in the Construction Industry.
The course will focus on the practical and theoretical aspects of construction with literacy, computers and guidance support underpinning various elements of the course.
Modules on the course include Hard Landscape Construction L4 (brick,block paving,kerbing), Woodwork L3, Floor and Wall Tiling L3,Communications L3, Mathematics L3 and Computers L3. All modules are QQI certified and participants can achieve a major award at level 3 in Employability Skills for Construction L3. Safepass, Manual Handling and Abrasive Wheel Training are also offered on the course. No previous experience is necessary. Ideally an applicant will have their Junior Cert or equivalent but it is not a pre-requisite.
