The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

| Entry Requirements |
Education: Literacy and numeracy aptitude levels at QQI level 4 and/or equivalent
Aptitude: It is expected that applicants possess good interpersonal skills, like working with people, be good team players and have an interest in hospitality sector.
Previous Experience: Experience in the hospitality industry is desirable but is not a requirement. |

This module provides learners with specialist skills and knowledge in one area of the hospitality industry – the beverage sector. The module is aimed at all first line operatives working in an environment that serves and prepares drinks. This includes bars, hotels and restaurants. Learners will be introduced to the full range of products used in making drinks. They will be able to prepare cocktails, select and use suitable types of glasses and other aspects that will enable the learner to become a professional bartender.
