The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Admittance to the course will depend on satisfying an interview board of the candidate’s suitability.
Description
Horticulture under the Back to Education Initiative (BTEI). This course is designed for people have a strong interest in Horticulture and is offered at QQI level 4.
The horticulture course covers basic gardening skills, growing vegetables and creating a shrub and herbaceous border. The course is practically orientated and students will have amble opportunity to gain hands-on experience. The QQI module Growing Vegetables is offered to students who wish to be assessed at the end of the course.
This course is offered on a part-time basis over one year and students attend two days per week; Monday and Tuesday.

Career Prospects
On completion of the course, you can apply to continue your course of study on a number of QQI LEVEL 5 programmes in the College.
This course will also prepare you for seeking employment, with workshops in areas such as interview skills, CV preparation and career development. The course will also prepare you for seeking employment in the jobs market.
