Hide-This is a one year course at QQI Level 5 which will provide the learner with the opportunity to develop skills and experience in the early childhood and education area, particularly after school care. On completion of this course students may gain entry to the Level 6 Advanced Childcare course in Inchicore College.

Students will gain a knowledge of the working environment and the fundamentals of childhood education. Additionally learners will focus on the particular approaches suitable to after school care.

This course is provided to meet the ever changing needs in childcare ensuring diversity, equality and inclusion of all children in the early years setting.

Students will have the opportunity learn from experts with visits from professionals in the area incorporated into the course.

The completion of these modules will ensure that students have achieved the relevant skills to work effectively in the area.

Garda clearance will operate for students on any course dealing with children or vulnerable adults.

Work Experience Placements
Work Experience Placements form a vital part of this course. Learners will have the opportunity to attend a work placement in an early years setting one day per week and also have three weeks block placements during the year.

EUROPEAN PROJECT (ERASMUS +)
Every year a number of students have the opportunity to travel to another European country for three weeks work experience. The students attend an early years setting in the host country and observe and participate in the day to day work of the setting learning about how they deliver professional child care and education.

Hide-Course fees range from €300 to €400 depending on the course. The fees cover costs of examination entry and certification fees as well as any course materials and personal equipment to students. The fees also cover a range of other services and activities provided for, or engaged in, by the students such as some trips, cultural and sporting events, accident insurance policy fee and student services fund fee. in addition to this, the Government levy of €200 will also apply for those applicants who do not hold a medical care.

Enrolment Deposit
Students who accept the offer of a place on a course must pay a non-refundable deposit of €50. The balance of the fee must be paid on commencement of each academic year.

External Examination Fees
Students who choose to enter for examinations other than those set by QQI and/or BTEC must pay the appropriate exam fees to the relevant examining authority.
