Course Content The aim of this course is to provide learners with a basic understanding of mechanical engineering. Students will gain practical skills relevant to pursuing a career in the engineering industry and have an introduction to theory necessary for entry into third level education. Students will also have the opportunity to study QQI Level 5 Maths required for entry into engineering courses at third level.

Mature Entry Places Mature students are welcome to apply.
Entry Requirements Applications are invited from those who have completed Leaving Certificate or equivalent. Mature students and recent school leavers are also welcome to apply. Technical drawing or engineering would be an advantage but are not essential.
Careers or Further Progression Students who complete this course are eligible to apply for apprenticeships or go directly into the work force. Careers for engineers exsist across all industry sectors. Qualified engineers typically work in sectors such as energy, transport, medical science, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, agriculture and waste management. Some may use their results to gain entry to specific courses in Institutes of Technology.
