The purpose of this award is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence in hairdressing theory, practice and skills to work independently and under supervision in a hairdressing environment.

Alternative Entry Mature students are very welcome on all courses in O'Fiaich Institute of further Education and the number of mature students is rising steadily. Some mature students are eligible for VTOS scheme (Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme).

•Are eligible for a SUSI Grant

Entry Requirements This course is aimed at students who have completed the Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, Leaving Certificate Vocational and mature students with an interest in hairdressing or barbering, with suitable candidates being selected by interview.
Careers or Further Progression The course will allow successful candidates to seek employment in locations such as hairdressing salons and barber shops.
