For entry to the Professional Certificate in Mathematics for Data Analytics and Statistics (LEVEL 8), students must have obtained an undergraduate or masters degree to standard 2:1 in any subject. Those without this requirement but with substantial industry experience related to the area, or relevant professional qualifications, will also be considered on a case by case basis. |

Hide-The Professional Certificate in Mathematics for Data Analytics and Statistics is designed for those who wish to study the Data Analytics and Statistics programmes run by the School of Mathematics and Statistics but do not have the mathematical pre-requisites. We provide the students with the foundational mathematical methods in calculus and linear algebra which will enable them to proceed onto our more advanced programmes. There are no lectures to attend as the modules are delivered completely online over the summer semester. Students must attend UCD at the end of the semester for exams.
This course is specifically designed for those who wish to eventually take the postgraduate data analytics and statistics programmes offered by the school but have not studied any mathematics at degree level.
Data Analysts are in strong demand from industry; this course allows students to pick up the foundational mathematics required for entry into the Online Professional Diploma in Data Analytics, or the Higher Diploma in Statistics. Students may then carry on to complete the Online MSc in Data Analytics or Royal Statistical Society accredited MA or MSc in Statistics.
The Online Professional Certificate in Data Analytics for Mathematics and Statistics covers Linear Algebra and Calculus which form the foundations of our later postgraduate programmes in data analytics and statistics.
