Hide-The programme helps you to develop knowledge and assessment skills for your area of clinical practice.
This programme is aimed at educationally preparing nurses to expand knowledge and skills required to undertake a comprehensive health history and perform a ‘head-to-toe’ physical assessment. We aim to give you the theoretical knowledge and clinical skills to carry out a complete health assessment on patients.
You will learn how to perform a physical assessment in a laboratory setting and you can then apply these skills in clinical practice. Emphasis on communication skills and history-taking is a central component of the module.
How will I benefit?
You will be able to apply these ‘head to toe’ assessment skills in clinical practice which will advance your career and assist with holistic care of the patient.
Features
Highly focused on clinical practice. This stand-alone module is focused on developing theoretical and clinical skills.
Innovative module
A central aspect of this programme is ensuring nurses develop the necessary assessment skills to carry out a health assessment on clients/patients. The use of clinical skills laboratories and clinical assessments provide an interactive and innovative learning experience.
Networking
The student body is drawn from a wide variety of clinical specialisms and organisations, enabling the sharing of learning and experience between you and your class members, as well as from the academic staff.
This UCD accredited professional certificate will provide recipients with professional currency and credibility in the clinical setting. Students will be offered a rewarding educational experience which you can apply directly in clinical practice. With your newly-developed knowledge and clinical skills you may wish to advance your career locally or you may wish to consider further education or the role of a registered nurse prescriber.
