Hide-About the Course
The Diploma in Business and Executive Coaching is a powerful learning experience that will equip you with the theory and skills required to deliver business and executive coaching at the ‘Senior Practitioner’ level. It will enable you to offer support in the areas of leadership and develop a coaching culture. In addition, it will provide you with an understanding of at least one psychological model for supporting change in human behaviour, attitudes, and motivation. It will also enable you to conduct critical analysis and reflection on the impact of your work on both the individual and organisation.
With no industry wide validating body, this programme contains all the key elements which are seen as best practice by each professional coaching association:
•Accredited by the Professional Body, European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) at the ‘Senior Practitioner’ level;
•Breadth and depth of theoretical input;
•Intensive coach practice sessions in small groups with high quality feedback from course tutors;
•100 face-to-face training hours;
•Requirement to build up coach practice hours between workshops;
•Group supervision and 1-1 supervision;
•Demonstration sessions from course tutors;
•University award at postgraduate level - NFQ level 9;
•Programme design reflects the three higher level competency categories of business and executive coaching: business mindedness, coaching skill and psychological-mindedness;
Furthermore, this programme has a strong personal development dimension to it.
Key Benefits
•A sound understanding of the theory and practice of coaching, in particular coaching people at senior levels in organisations;
•Highly developed self-awareness and awareness of your impact, enabling you to work with the psychological, relational and cultural aspects of coaching;
•Competence and confidence using advanced coaching capabilities in organisations and at senior levels;.
•An integrative understanding of your own unique approach to coaching – putting your “signature” on your coaching practice; and
•A close network of coaches who will journey alongside you on the course – for support, co-consultancy and learning.

Structure
The Diploma is a 1-year, part-time programme delivered over a series of 6 three or two-day workshops and provides the equivalent of 100 training hours. The first day of each three-day workshop tends to concentrate on theoretical input while the second and third days are more practical, with participants working in small groups alternating the roles of coach, coachee and observer. The two-day workshops focus on practice and group supervision of client work.
Assignments & Workload
Participants are assessed by individual continuous assessment work. This programme involves no examinations – instead the emphasis throughout is on the practical application of knowledge to benefit you and your organisation. Assignments include an essay, reflective practice assignment, written commentary on a coaching session and an EMCC competency self-assessment. You are also required to complete 90 hours of client work during the programme
