Cabhrófar le mic léinn a gcumas taighde agus anailíse a fheabhsú trí bhunscileanna taighde a shealbhú agus trí bheith ag déileáil le foinsí eolais de chineálacha éagsúla. Ritear an clár ar bhonn éilimh agus déantar é a sholáthar trí mheán na Gaeilge.
This postgraduate programme provides students with the opportunity to engage in a deeper exploration of the Irish language, its literature and heritage through honing specific academic skills. Guidance will be provided to students to help them improve their research and analytical capacity through the acquisition of basic research skills and their engagement with various types and sources of information. The programme is run subject to demand and is delivered through the medium of Irish.

Múintear trí mhodúl i Seimeastar 1 agus trí mhodúl i Seimeastar 2, agus bíonn na léachtaí ar siúl Dé Máirt agus Déardaoin idir 1600 agus 1900, de ghnáth. Scrúdú scríofa nó aistí téarma a bhíonn i gceist leis an measúnú i rith Sheimeastair 1 agus 2 (50% den mharc iomlán; 10 gcreidiúint ag gabháil le gach modúl léachtaí = 60 creidiúint). Déantar miontráchtas 15,000 focal a scríobh faoi stiúir léachtóra sa Scoil (50% den mharc iomlán = 30 creidiúint).

Déantar miontráchtas 15,000 focal a scríobh faoi stiúir léachtóra sa Scoil (50% den mharc iomlán = 30 creidiúint). Déanann na mic léinn freastal ar sheimineár taighde in aghaidh na seachtaine a bhíonn ar siúl, de ghnáth, tráthnóna Dé Céadaoin idir 1600-1700 i rith Sheimeastair 1 & 2.

The degree may be completed as a one-year full-time programme or a two-year part-time programme.
One-Year Programme (DC686)
Three modules are taught in Semester 1 and another three in Semester 2, and lectures are usually held on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1600 and 1900. Assessment is by means of written examinations or essays during Semesters 1 and 2 (50% of the overall mark; 10 credits per module = 60 credits). A 15,000 word minor thesis is written under the supervision of a lecturer in the School (50% of the overall mark = 30 credits).
Two-Year Programme (DC687)
Year 1
Three modules are taught in Semester 1 and another three in Semester 2, and lectures are usually held on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1600 and 1900. Assessment is by means of written examinations or essays during Semesters 1 and 2 (50% of the overall mark; 10 credits per module = 60 credits).
Year 2
A 15,000 word minor dissertation is written under the supervision of a lecturer in the School (50% of the overall mark = 30 credits). Students also attend a weekly research seminar which is normally held on Wednesdays between 1600-1700 during Semesters 1 & 2.

Graduates who emerge from the MA i Léann na Gaeilge with Fiontar & Scoil na Gaeilge will have a wide range of career options: e.g. employment opportunities at all levels within the education system, the media (television, radio, the print and digital media), in the translation sector, the public service, politics, the arts, heritage tourism and the European Union. Graduates of the MA i Léann na Gaeilge are also well equipped to proceed to further study, at doctoral level, for example, and students interested in such options are actively encouraged to discuss these with a member of academic staff in the School.
