The BSc Nursing Management is a bridging programme for nurses/midwives who have qualified via Certificate/Diploma level training. This part time programme, through the process of critical thinking, analysis and reflection on practice registered nurses are facilitated to reflect on the quality of patient care and the nursing contribution to health and social gain. The BSc Nursing Management programme focuses on current nursing management and leadership issues and the key skills in contemporary people management.
The BSc Nursing Management programme is primarily aimed at nurses following a management career pathway and employed in managerial positions. The degree specific modules in this programme allow student to explore key managerial issues in relation to health financial management together with human resource management.
Learning Outcomes/Aims:
To provide registered nurses with the skills to critically evaluate the factors that influence health and to identify and plan health promotion interventions appropriate to patient/client needs in their areas of care.
To encourage registered nurses to critically reflect on the role of nursing management and leadership in order to work effectively as integrated members of multi/interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
To develop registered nurses' ability to critically analyse healthcare financing systems and evaluate the allocation of resources and the impact of this on the role of the nurse manager.
To enable registered nurses apply and critically evaluate the theory of human resource management in a variety of clinical nursing environments.
