The course will take place 1 evening per week (Mondays) for 3 hours (6pm to 9pm) and there will be 3 or 4 Saturdays spread out throughout the year. |

LMETB allows a 20% discount for those in receipt of social welfare. This applies only when the same person is paying for the course and not receiving funding from an outside body. Section 1: Enrolment and payment of fees
1a. Students may enrol in the following ways:
- Online using laser, credit or visa debit card.
- In person on enrolment days and nights as per advertisements.
- Through an employer (students require covering letter and employer will be invoiced for fee).
1b. Places may not be booked without payment of fee.
1c. Bank card number and expiry date required on all cheque payments.
1d. Students must give contact details on enrolment to facilitate the college contacting them when required e.g. class cancellation.
1e. Students enrolling on certified courses must give details of the following to facilitate exam entry. Failure to do so will mean students cannot be enrolled for examinations and assessment.
PPS number
Date of birth
Medical card number and expiry date if applicable
1f. Students intending to undertake Leaving Certificate examinations must contact the State Examinations Commission www.examinations.ie at commencement of course. Co. Louth VEC is not responsible for registering students for Leaving Certificate examinations.
1g. Some courses may incur additional costs e.g. examination fees and/or class materials.
Section 2: Refund policy
2a. Programmes must be self-financing. For a class to begin there must be a minimum number of participants. If a class does not go ahead participants will be notified as soon as possible and given a choice of transferring to a different course or a full refund.
2b. No refunds are payable under any circumstances once the course commences.
2c. All refunds will be made by cheque.
Section 3: Examinations
3a. It is the responsibility of each student submitting work for examination to:
Be aware of course assessment requirements
To submit course work on time
To have all coursework clearly labelled with name, date or birth and PPS number
Have paid examination fee (where paid separately)
Section 4: Special course requirements
4a. Garda vetting may be necessary for some courses. Students are responsible for accurately filling forms on the first night of course for submission to the Garda Vetting office by Co. Louth VEC.
4b. Some courses require students to undertake work experience. Students are responsible for securing placements. Insurance and letter of introduction are available from night class office.
4c. Some courses have special requirements e.g. most FETAC level 6 courses require students to have successfully completed level 5 or equivalent. Other courses require students to be already working in a particular field e.g. supervisory management (healthcare) requires students be working in a health care setting.

This Certificate level course is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to develop an understanding of psychology and to explore its relevance to the individual, family, community and society.
Course Aims The course aims to introduce participants to the main psychological theories and examine their contribution to the development of the discipline. |
