People who are in receipt of an old age pension or in receipt of a social welfare payment are entitled to a concession. To obtain this concession the college will need a photocopy of documentation to show what payment you are on. This must be presented on registration along with your pps number. This course is designed for people considering returning to full time education. It covers academic profiling and guidance, basic academic skills and allows for the participant to build basic skills and to explore their future direction. The course will provide the participants with a skill set that will allow them to identify their educational pathway and to uncover the steps that need to be taken in order to make that journey a reality.
Basic academic skills will be addressed to allow the participants be able to understand the question asked, research efficiently and effectively use this research to write an essay on the topic. Participants will be required to produce written work as part of the course.
The learned skills will be put to further use in the preparation and delivery of a presentation. The students’ presentation skills will be honed and the participants will present on a topic of their choice. The course will appeal to anyone who is contemplating returning to education or would like to develop their research and writing skills.
