The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

This course is suitable for people with a keen interest in horticulture and gardening.
It is designed for people interested in a career in horticulture, setting up their own horticultural business, or who want to introduce self-sufficiency into their lifestyle.
It will also enable the student to progress to further education and training.
Students will participate in both practical work and classroom-based subjects.
The course is FREE to those who are in receipt of a DSP payment, or have a medical card or have less than upper second level education.
