This course aims to facilitate nurses/midwives to develop their knowledge, attitude and competence to deliver palliative care at a generalist level. This aim is in line with the National Clinical Programme for Palliative Care HSE (2014) objective to build palliative care capacity among all nurses and midwives to respond confidently and in a timely manner to the palliative care needs of individuals and their families in any health care setting.
Students will explore the theory, research and practice issues necessary to provide quality palliative care in contemporary health care environments.
Who Should Apply?
This clinically focused course is for registered nurses/midwives involved in the delivery of patient/client care in any setting including hospital, community or long term residential care.

»» Loss, grief and bereavement.
»» Professional, ethical and legal practice.
»» Palliative Care Needs Assessment Workshop.
This course was designed and is delivered with the collaboration of the specialist palliative care service HSE Dublin North East. This programme is fully approved by The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). |
