Certificate in Advocacy Leadership and Independent Living (Certificate of Attendance).
Course Content Aims
This programme aims to assist people with intellectual disability to take control of their lives by developing their knowledge and understanding of advocacy and leadership. It aims to develop participants’ ability to make choices based on their understanding of rights. The overarching aim of the programme is to enhance people’s independent living skills.
Subjects Taught The course consists of an orientation day, 6 modules and an evaluation day. The modules covered are as follows:

• Introduction to College Life
• Community
• Your Rights
• Citizenship
• Advocating for your Rights
• Independence
• Developing Capacity
• Evaluation and Organising a Graduation
Assessment Method Entry and exit questionnaires will be completed with each candidate to assess the learning achieved. Each module will be accompanied with a practical exercise. All exercise work can be represented in photographic, written, oral or illustrative form.
