The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Hide-Education: Applicants should have a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 3 when accessing a Level 4 programme. Applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education although no formal qualifications are required.

Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.

Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work under direction with some ability to work on their own initiative.

This course aims to provide the learner with the practical and theoretical skills needed to work in the Care Sector / Health Care Sector or any other business that involves working with people. This covers a broad level of skills and knowledge including Healthcare, Biology, Communications, Personal Effectiveness and Personal and Interpersonal Development. It is an ideal course for anyone wishing to gain knowledge in the Healthcare field with modules such as Healthcare and Biology but also with the added bonus of Communication Skills covered under the umbrella of Personal Development. This can lead to many areas, namely progression to Healthcare Level 5 or to further existing skills for those already working in a Healthcare role.
