The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Hide-Education: No formal education or qualifications are required although applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 4 when accessing a Level 5 programme.

Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.

Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course and be able to exercise initiative and independence when carrying out course activities.

The aim of the course is:

To facilitate the learner to explore Beauty Therapy with a view to re-skilling/up-skilling and exploring concepts and subject areas that may interest the learner in future programmes or employment.

To facilitate the learner to acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of beauty therapy treatments, techniques, products and equipment.

To facilitate the learner to acquire a knowledge of the concepts and theory in relation to beauty therapies and techniques.

To facilitate the learner to acquire the ability to demonstrate judgement in selecting appropriate treatments in response to clients’ needs.

To facilitate the learner to apply beauty therapy skills and treatments in a range of varied and specific contexts to meet clients’ needs.

Learning Outcomes
