The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Hide-Education: No formal education or qualifications are required although applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 3 when accessing a Level 4 programme.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course and be able to work under direction with some ability to work on their own initiative.

This Level 4 course in intended for learners who would like an introduction to Healthcare/Childcare and those who are looking towards progressing to a Level 5 course in Healthcare/Childcare.
The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work independently and under supervision in a range of Healthcare/Childcare settings and or to progress to higher education and training.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competencies to work under direct supervision, providing assistance and support within an Early Childhood
Care and Education (ECCE) setting and or to progress to further education and training.
Further Details
The following components will be covered Level 4: Healthcare, Child Development & Play, Communications, Level 5 Safety & Health at Work and Occupational First Aid. The course will take place on Mondays & Tuesdays. Learners will be required to participate in 80 hours work placement.
