The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Hide-Education: No formal education or qualifications are required although applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 5 when accessing a Level 6 programme.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course and be able to exercise initiative and independence when carrying out course activities.

The overall aim of the programme is to provide the learner with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work as an autonomous practitioner and or take responsibility for the work of others in leading and coordinating the provision of a quality early childhood care and education environment which promotes children's well-being, development and learning and or to progress to higher education and training.
The programme aims to facilitate the learner to explore Early Childhood Care and Education with a view to re-skilling/up-skilling and exploring concepts and subject areas that may interest the learner in future programmes or employment
This programme will facilitate the learner to demonstrate knowledge of a range of perspectives of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and of policies, procedures and best practice guidelines that support the delivery of an effective early childhood care and education service.
The programme is offered to the learner on a part time basis and has been designed to be sufficiently flexible so that it may meet the needs of the learner who is working in the Early Childhood Care and Education sector and wishes to accesses programmes.
The learner must have achieved a Level 5 QQI award in Childcare and be Garda Vetted in order to participate fully on this programme. It is expected that the learner will work with children and or vulnerable groups of people as part of the work experience component.
