The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

The purpose of this award is to enable the learner to develop the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to use a range of skills and tools, under direction and with limited autonomy, related to seeking employment or in employment. It enables the learner develop personal qualities and strengths to make informed choices to pursue a range of employment opportunities or to progress to further education or training.

Objectives of the programme Employability Skills:

To provide a programme of learning that is general in nature and flexible in structure so that learners have the maximum opportunity to improve their career planning, literacy, numeracy and ICT skills;

To facilitate the Learner to explore an appropriate career progression path

To assist the Learner in developing their interpersonal, communication, team working, time keeping and time management skills; and

To provide a sound base and foundation of learning that will afford the learner the opportunity to progress to other vocational programmes leading to awards at Level 4.
