The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Hide-Education: Applicants should have a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 3 when accessing a Level 4 programme. Applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education although no formal qualifications are required.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

Hide-This course will help you to develop the knowledge, skills and competence in a broad range of information and communication technology which enable employment, under direct supervision, in a variety of information and communications technology sectors, or progression to further education or training.
This course will run in the evenings over 2 years - Year 1: Sept 2017-May 2018; Year 2: Sept 2018-May 2019
The following components are scheduled to run from September 2017 to May 2018: Communications (Mandatory) 15 credits, Work Experience (Mandatory)15 credits, Web Design 10 credits, Information Technology Skills 10 credits.
Please note in order to achieve a major award in “Information and Communications Technology” you need to have 90 credits.
The remaining components will run from September 2018 to May 2019 (Year 2).
