The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Hide-The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the basic
knowledge, skill and competence necessary to assist in meeting
the health, hygiene, safety and nutritional needs of children in
Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) settings. The course is part time and is free to people who meet the BTEI criteria.
Entry Requirements
• Education: Applicants should have a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 3 when accessing a Level 4 programme. Applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education although no formal qualifications are required.
• Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
• Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work under direction with some ability to work on their own initiative.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this programme learners will have acquired a broad range of generic skills which will enable employment, under direct supervision, in a variety of sectors, or progression to further education or training.
Further Details
Learners will be made aware of the the basic requirements necessary to provide for the health, hygiene, safety and nutritional needs of children, identify some factors that contribute to the overall well-being of children and distinguish between the different dietary requirements of babies and young children.
