This course is designed for learners who are interested in pursuing a career in childcare or learners who wish to pursue further studies. This course will facilitate learners who wish to care for young people in a range of settings, including nurseries, crèches and playgroups. Studying towards a childcare qualification is an enjoyable journey as you will get to explore all aspects of a child’s development, from safety and psychology, to regulation and legislation. |

Certification
Component Certificates are awarded when individual modules are completed. QQI Level 5 National Certificate in Early Childhood Care 7 Education (5M2007) is awarded on completion of 120 credits.
This PLC course is run as an extension from St Colman's Community College in Midleton. |

Successful applicants will be notified of the offer of a place on a course by post and must secure this place by accepting their place before a set date. Failure to do so may result in the place being offered to another applicant.
Start the Course
Students will be informed of the start date when offered a place on the course. All students must attend the centre on this date. If you cannot attend on this date please let the centre know to retain your place.

Work experience placement is an integral part of this course. Candidates gain first-hand experience by attending appropriate and related work placements within the community care environment. Garda clearance is essential to partake in work experience which comprises a minimum of 10 days placement.

This accreditation may offer an alternative route to third level education. Visit www.cao.ie for more information. Learners, who have successfully completed the Childcare course, are eligible to apply for employment as a Childcare assistant within the childcare sector. Alternatively, the full QQI Level 5 award facilitates entry to QQI Level 6 Childcare Courses. |
