Hide-Programme Description
Research into effective schooling in the last decade has drawn particular attention to the key role of leadership and management in the process. Responding successfully and with confidence to the challenges of an ever-changing world requires leaders to be able to draw on a wide range of approaches and skills. The central endeavour of the MA / Postgraduate Diploma / Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership and Management in Education programme is to enhance the practice of participants in their current and potential roles as education leaders and managers.
The programme takes a three-pronged approach which integrates theory, practice and reflection on practice. Participants are encouraged to engage with, and reflect on, national and international literature and research in educational leadership and management in a critical and informed manner. Participants undertake small-scale studies informed by their reading in their own school environments in an effort to evaluate and address problem areas in the pursuit of best practice at a local level.
