Entry Requirements / Prerequisites:
•Level 4 Certificate, Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experiences.
•Students must be competent in both written and spoken English.
•Students must be working or on work experience in the Healthcare Sector for a mimuim of 40 hours druing this course as assignments will require learners to draw upon practical experience.
•As part of the assessment criteria for this combined course students will need to carry out practical demonstrations, all candidates who enrol for this course must have the agreement from their supervisor/manager in the work place to oversee their practical work.
•As this programme is delivered through distance learning or eLearning, students must be capable of studying on their own initiative.
•If you take this course by distance learning the course material will be posted to you. You can complete and return assignments/projects which must be typed rather than handwritten either by post or by email.

Hide-This new QQI Level 5 Combined Healthcare Assistant Training Course is designed to meet the training needs of those commencing work in the Home Care Sector. This programme will suit learners seeking to secure a position as a home carer with one of Ireland’s home care agencies.
The course aims to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of the role of a Care Assistant and promote good practice among those working in the Care Industry. These two modules will also enable learners to progress to the required Healthcare Support Assistant Major Award – 5M4339.
Included in this specially combined course are two key QQI Healthcare components at levels 5:
1.QQI Care Skills (5N2770) – Level 5
2.QQI Care of the Older Person (5N2706) – Level 5.
