The Advanced Beauty Therapy course at Marino College offers highly specialised skin-care and body treatments including Microdermabrasion and Laser/IPL therapy. We also provide training in Holistic Therapies such as Indian Head Massage and Holistic Body Massage.
The Beauty course in Marino is ideal for students who wish to advance their current Beauty Qualifications and further their career within the Beauty Industry. We offer students an ideal opportunity to train to the highest standard for QQI Level 6 Beauty Therapy Award and ITEC Diplomas in Facial Electrical Treatments and Holistic Massage.
While studying the Advanced Beauty Therapy course, students gain experience in both theoretical and practical work. Subjects include Depilation, Tanning and Lightening with specialised body therapy treatments. Students participate in Work Experience where they gain valuable insights into a career within a Beauty Salon or Spa.
Our examination body, ITEC, have a strict attendance requirement which must be met to register for both theory and practical exams. It is compulsory that students complete a portfolio of case studies as part of their internal assessment which is verified by ITEC. NB No case studies - no exam.

Registration fees apply. However it is important that students should budget to cover the cost of the various student services - similar to the requirements of Third Level Colleges. These costs include examination fees, insurance, registration charges, books and where required - uniforms and specialised equipment. Details of these charges are available on request from the college. There are no fees for tuition. No refund of course costs will be issued after 30th September.
In addition, students are liable for a €200 participation contribution, imposed on all PLC courses. The following categories of student are exempt from paying the contribution.
Full current medical card holders in their own right and their dependent children.
Those who are eligible under the student grant Scheme
Those in receipt of the Back to Education Allowance or VTOS allowances.
Please note evidence that you are in receipt of any of the above must be provided before an exemption can be implemented. Therefore, initially only those who produce a full medical card in their own right will be exempt. All others must pay the €200 contribution and it will be refunded when their eligibility is confirmed.

Back to Education Allowance
The Back to Education Allowance is a scheme which enables anyone in receipt of benefits eg Jobseekers Allowance or One Parent Family Payment to enrol on a Post Leaving Certificate or Adult Education course and continue to keep their benefit. For more information on the schemes you can contact your local Social Welfare Office.
Back to Education Initiative
The Back to Education Initiative provides part-time Further Education Programmes for young people and adults. The aim is to give people an opportunity to combine return to learning with family and other responsibilities. Priority is given to early school leavers, participants can retain their benefits and there are no course charges.

One day per week, students will participate in Work Experience in a Beauty Salon or Spa of their choice. This provides an opportunity to gain valuable insights into a career in the Beauty Industry. Students will be required to attend a one week Work Experience placement in December.

| Entry Requirements |
Students must have a certified qualification in Beauty Therapy. We welcome newly qualified and experienced therapists seeking to expand their current qualifications, both from Marino and other colleges. (eg Level 5 QQI Award in Beauty and/or ITEC Level 2 Beauty Specialist Diploma) All eligible applicants will be interviewed. |

There are a wide variety of career opportunities for therapists who successfully complete this course including employment in Beauty Salons, Cruise Liners, Spas, Self Employment, Hotels and Leisure Complexes. Students who successfully obtain their Level Six Award from Marino College can also progress to further studies including the second year of the Level 7, Bachelor of Arts in Spa Management in Athlone Institute of Technology. The ITEC diplomas are internationally recognised, enabling therapists to work in over 30 countries worldwide.
