When do National Learning Network courses begin?
The majority of National Learning Network programmes are open entry, which means that you can start at any time of the year. |

| Duration |
Up to 2 years.
Programmes vary in duration from a few months to three years and you may get an extension if you require it. The majority of courses are 30 hours per week, although some people attend part time particularly at the start. Normally, the course starts at 9am and finishes at 5pm, Monday to Thursday. On a Friday, courses may finish at 2.30pm in some locations. |

There are no formal entry requirements. You just need the will to succeed. Some courses do have an assessment period, this is to ensure that the course is suitable for you. National Learning Network students must be over 16 and under 66 years of age. |

The aim of the programme is to provide learners with the knowledge, skills and competence to work under supervision providing assistance and support within a catering setting, or alternatively, to progress to further training or education. The programme also aims to support learners in achieving QQI Level 4 certification in Catering Support.
Using a 40/40/20 Train and Place model of delivery, learners will attend in-centre theoretical and practical skills training two days per week and will complete a work experience placement provided by a host company in a catering environment for two days per week.
Practical skills will be taught and assessed in a Production Kitchen setting, covering specific learning outcomes to achieve QQI component certification.
