Course Content Description
Sustainability, energy and the environment are at the forefront of current business and policy priority areas and this course offers the opportunity to learn about renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency, investigate strategies for environmental, waste and resource management, develop the business skills necessary to apply this knowledge in a practical working environment and gain entrepreneurial skills relevant to environmental business development.
Subjects Taught Modules include:
Sustainability and the Environment; Renewable Energy Applications; Biomass and Biofuels Technology; Wind Turbine Technology; Environmental Science; Economics of Renewable Energy; Environmental Business Planning; Waste Management; and Work Based Learning.
Assessment Method Each module is assessed separately by a combination of coursework and examination.
Careers or Further Progression Progression Opportunities
Graduates of the Foundation Degree can progress to the pre-honours year on the Honours Degree programme in Land Use and Environmental Management at Queen's University Belfast or can articulate to the second stage of the part time BSc Honours Degree in Energy, Environment and Sustainability programme at South West College. This course also equips Learners for a range of other degree programmes or for direct entry to the workplace with a FdSc qualification.
