However we advise you to apply as early as possible, particularly for those courses where there is a high demand for places. Early application is also important for international applicants to allow sufficient time to obtain a student entry visa.

Postgraduate Research

There is no standard closing date. You should however check both the University’s website and refer to the relevant School/Institute webpage for information on deadline dates for postgraduate funding applications, as these will also determine when your application for admission should be submitted.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International students wishing to apply to Queen's University Belfast (and for whom English is not their first language), must be able to demonstrate their proficiency in English in order to benefit fully from their course of study or research. Non-EEA nationals must also satisfy UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) immigration requirements for English language for visa purposes.

Evidence of an IELTS* score of 6.5, with not less than 5.5 in any component, or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University is required.

•holistic expertise in the integration of technical aspects and underlying knowledge of Building Information Modelling through design, engineering and construction with financial, legal, commercial leadership and managerial skills of business administration in the management of simple to complex projects from project conception through to construction, operation and maintenance

•critical and analytical problem solving abilities across a broad range of Building Information Modelling orientated transferable skills that relate to information technology, computing support systems, teamwork, group work, and personal presentations

Why Queen's?
The degree is in the process of gaining, but has not obtained, accreditation from the following:
•The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
•Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
•Joint Board of Moderators

The programme is also unique in that it is the only Building Information Modelling MSc that focuses on Project Management within the UK and Ireland. Furthermore, the programme is delivered by a mixture of research orientated academics and industry professionals, all of whom work within the remit of project management and/or building information modelling.

Course Details
The programme is delivered over a two-day week on Mondays and Tuesdays for full time delivery and on 1 day per-week for part time students (Monday for first year, Tuesday for second year). Nine modules totalling 180 CATS points are included for delivery, with no optional modules available.

Lectures are delivered by industry orientated lecturers and external experts within the field of Project Management and Building Information Modelling. Assessment is split approximately 75/25, in favour of coursework, with examinations in January and May.

Individual Research Project (MSc Only)
For full-time students the final four months of the programme (Semester 3) is dedicated to an individual research project (60 CATS points). Submission is the last working day of September. Part-time students may arrange their programme, subject to timetabling and arrangement with the Programme Co-ordinator.

Indicative Proportional Mix of Time in Classes, Tutorials/Seminars/Labs, and Private Study in a Teaching Semester

Each semester, there is approximately 144 hours of direct student contact with 288 hours of self-directed private study and coursework preparation required.
