Accreditation
The IPA is a recognised college of University College Dublin (UCD). From 2012, any student entering an accredited IPA Programme will graduate with a UCD award. The IPA and UCD are part of the wider National University of Ireland (NUI) network. The MA (Non-Profit Management) is at Level 9 (Major Award) on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).

Audience
This programme will be of great value to those who have, or aspire to have, managerial and administrative functions in the non-profit field. Whether a student’s area of interest is education, community development, healthcare, arts and culture, advocacy, the environment or any of the other many aspects of human life where non-profits play a crucial role, this programme will equip them with the theoretical knowledge and the practical skills necessary to effectively manage and lead in their organisations.

Delivery & Duration
This programme takes two years to complete on a part-time basis and is delivered through blended learning. It can be taken from anywhere in the country. Students receive comprehensive course material, including all the essential textbooks. They also attend intensive weekend seminars at the IPA campus in Dublin 4 over the course of the academic year, where they meet their classmates, receive lectures from expert academics and experienced practitioners, and participate in study groups.

The non-profit sector, (sometimes called the Community and Voluntary Sector in Ireland) is now an established and significant area in all developed nations, facing challenges unique to that sector. Non-profit organisations differ from businesses in many respects, including methods of revenue generation, organisational mission and values, and relationships with stakeholders. However, these organisations also require the financial, HR, and strategic capacities that are fundamental to success in any sector.

The Institute of Public Administration’s Master of Arts in Non-Profit Management responds to a growing need for increased managerial capabilities in non-profit organisations in Ireland and abroad. The programme attends to subjects that are at the heart of contemporary management generally and to subjects specific to non-profits. A part-time programme delivered through blended learning, it enables students to keep their professional and personal commitments while working toward an advanced qualification. It is accredited by University College Dublin, of which the IPA is a recognised college.

The programme is aimed at managers in the sector who are currently in senior management positions or are aspiring to reach this goal. It is aimed at developing general management competencies in non-profit management and learning evidence based practices. It has a structured timetable to allow participation in the programme for those who live near or far from Dublin. Affordable accommodation is available nearby for those who may need to travel to Dublin for the four (4) weekends required in each of the first three semesters.
