The American Society Pain Management Nursing (ASPMN) has awarded international affiliate to this programme. The Irish Pain Society (Chapter IASP) has provided a scholarship for the student with the highest academic achievement.

Who is the programme for?
This professional certificate is designed for nurses/midwives who are interested in becoming knowledgeable in the study of pain, the prevention and pain and understand the complex nature of pain.

What will I learn?
We aim to expand your knowledge and skills in pain management education in the context of clinical assessment methods across the trajectory of care.

You will learn advanced knowledge on pain prevention and management and apply these skills to clinical settings. Your clinical practicum in the Department of Pain Medicine, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, will be facilitated by an expert nurse in pain.

You will be able to apply specialist skills in pain care in your clinical setting and advance your career across pain management settings.

Networking
The student body is drawn from a wide variety of clinical specialisms and organisations, enabling the sharing of learning and experience between you and your class members, as well as from the academic staff.

Programme structure
The programme is delivered over one semester (September – December) and has a clinical component. The module is entitled Pain Management (10 ECTS).
