Course Content Complicated grief is a largely misunderstood disorder which effects between 2 and 5% of bereaved people. It is characterised by serious impairment in functioning and an inability to engage satisfactorily with everyday life. It does not respond well to traditional therapy methods and new protocols are being developed to treat it; notably Shear’s Complicated Grief Therapy.
Learning Outcomes On completion of the workshop participants will be able to:

• differentiate between normal and complicated grief;
• recognise and assess complicated grief;
• understand why complicated grief develops;
• learn effective interventions in the treatment of complicated grief;
• be familiar with an evidence-based treatment protocol for complicated grief.
Course Fee €100 (1-day workshop) includes light lunch/tea and coffee.
Target Audience Professionals and volunteers who may wish to learn more about loss and bereavement and for those working with people who have experienced a major loss.
