Hide-Applicants who are under 23 years of age must satisfy the minimum entry requirements for the degrees in Nursing which are: HC5 in two subjects and O6/O7 in four other subjects in the Leaving Certificate from Irish, English, Mathematics, one Laboratory Science subject (i.e. Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Physics with Chemistry (joint) or Agricultural Science) and two other subjects recognised for entry purposes.
Infections Diseases Policy
Students enrolled on certain courses in the College of Medicine and Health are at increased risk of contracting and transmitting certain infectious diseases as a result of being in the clinical environment as part of their course. it is important therefore in order to protect patients and students that healthcare students are screened for and immunized against certain infectious illnesses. Students enrolling in the School of nursing and Midwifery are screened and immunized by the Health Service Executive Occupational Health Service and are subject to the HSE policies in this regard. All other undergraduate students in the College of Medicine and health are subject to the UCC infectious Disease Screening and Blood Borne Virus Policy. Details will be sent from the Admissions Office once a student has accepted his/her place.
Fitness to Practise:
This undergraduate programme requires students to meet the guidelines of the university's "Fitness to Practise" policy (see www.ucc.ie.en.academicsecretariat.fitnesstopractise )
Student Vetting
A condition of enrollment on this programme is that all incoming students have cleared the vetting process in accordance with university policy and the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Venerable Persons Act 2012).

On successful completion of this course, which is offered annually, students are awarded a National University of Ireland Bachelor of Science (BSc Nursing Studies) degree.
Why Study
The course is aimed at building on the foundations provided by pre-registration programmes and professional experience. It appeals to nurses/midwives from a number of clinical areas and from management positions.
