Hide-This Food Science & Nutrition course is aimed at students who want to develop their knowledge of food science and nutrition. The applied nature of this programme will focus on the relationship between food and health and the study of food from a scientific point of view. This course can provide successful students with the knowledge and the entry requirements necessary to access some science based programmes at Third level. The course also aims to provide students with the skills necessary to gain employment in the food industry.
This Course Is Designed To
Prepare participants for specialised degree programmes in Higher Education Colleges eg IT Sligo & St. Angela’s.
Allow the learner to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to independently and under supervision analyse, quantify and report on the physical, chemical and biochemical nature of foods and the principles of food processing.
Gain practical competence in good work practices including an adherence to health and safety procedures in the workplace.
