Read through the course sections of your course guide and find the course(s) which interest you.

Step 2: Apply Online
Visit our website at www.nwrc.ac.uk and search for the course you would like to apply for. Click 'Apply Online' (Paper application forms are also available from Student Services.)

Step 3: Complete the Online Application Form
Apply for your chosen course using our online application form. Please make sure you complete ALL details on the form fully. You may also include an additional course if you are undecided about your course choice. However, your application will be processed based on your first choice.

Entry to our courses will also be given to applicants who do not meet the formal academic requirements in this guide, especially those who have significant and relevant experience and ability. Entry criteria for some College courses may be enhanced where courses are over-subscribed.

Payment of Tuition Fees

Full-Time Higher Education (HE) Courses

Year 1:
• To secure a place you must pay a deposit of at least £200 (subject to confirmation) (full-fee £2,500).

• The deposit should be paid within 4 weeks from the date of your offer by email/letter. Failure to pay the deposit or produce evidence of an application for a tuition fee loan, will result in your offer being withdrawn and your application being moved to the end of the waiting list.

• In the event of you not achieving the required qualifications this deposit will be refunded.

• If the remaining balance is not paid in full a direct debit facility is available to pay the remaining balance over a maximum of 4 monthly instalments.

Year 2:
• Fees should be paid in full on enrolment for those students not in receipt of Tuition Fee Loan from SLC

• There is a facility to pay by direct debit.

• A minimum deposit of £200 (subject to confirmation) will be payable on enrolment and a direct debit facility is available to pay the remaining balance over a maximum of 4 monthly instalments. These will begin on the 15th (or nearest working day) of the month following the date of enrolment.

IN BOTH CASES A DEPOSIT WILL BE WAIVED IF THE STUDENT PROVIDES A LETTER FROM THE STUDENT LOAN COMPANY CONFIRMING THAT AN APPLICATION FOR A TUITION FEE LOAN HAS BEEN RECEIVED.

Course fees must be paid in full by 28th February 2018.

Non-Payment of Tuition Fees
Failure to pay your required tuition fees may result in one or more of the following:
• you may be withdrawn from your course

• you may not be able to sit exams for any NWRC course you are enrolled on

• you may not be able to access any College facilities or our Computer network

• you may not be able to progress to the next year of your course, or enrol on an alternative NWRC course

• your name will not be included on any pass / graduation list

We will aim to recover all outstanding money that is owed to the College.

UK students studying HE courses may apply for a non-repayable means-tested maintenance grant. You also have the option of applying for a maintenance loan, to assist with living costs and tuition fee loan, to cover the cost of your tuition fees. You need to complete a PN1 form which is available from Student Services or you can complete online by visiting: www.studentfinanceni.co.uk

All full time H.E. students may be eligible for an NWRC bursary of up to £500† per academic year

EU students may apply for a tuition fee loan to cover the costs of HE tuition fees - Download a EU16N form available from: www.gov.uk/student-finance-forms. This form should be returned to: EU Customer Services Team, PO BOX 89, Darlington, Co. Durham, DL1 9AZ. Helpline: 0141 243 3570.

Republic of Ireland students should apply via www.susi. ie for maintenance grants. Students in receipt of benefits, should contact your local Welfare Office for eligibility information on Back to Education Allowance.

Hardship Fund (a non-repayable means-tested fund) The College may provide help to students with evidence of financial hardship via the College Hardship Fund. UK Students who are aged 18+ may be eligible to help with costs such as fees, maintenance, travel, accommodation, books and materials. All Hardship Fund applicants should previously have applied to their local Education Authority in the first instance. You can get an application form from the College Student Services Offices.

Childcare
Full-time students may be eligible for assistance with childcare costs, for registered child-minders only (including crèches, nurseries etc). Contact Student Services for more information.

The course is for you if you are interested in following a career in Architectural Technology and require a Foundation Degree to progress to higher academic qualifications and/or to enhance employment prospects in this field.

It includes 400 hours of work placement in the second year of the course.

Ulster University validates the Foundation Degree and successful completion permits entry into the second year of related degree courses at university.

The course is offered as a dedicated route to the second year of the Ulster University’s BSc (Hons) in Architectural Technology & Management degree, with a further two years of study required.

It therefore allows candidates to complete a BSc (Hons) Degree within the same four year period as candidates who enrol directly to the university at the beginning of Year One.

The course is structured such that students who do not progress to the second year can achieve a CertHE qualification following successful completion of the first year of study.

The CertHE is also validated by Ulster University.

If you successfully complete a Foundation Degree, or another relevant qualification, such as a HND, you may be able to complete just one year of study on a Top-up degree, allowing you to achieve a full Honours level qualification and graduate with a BSc (Hons) or BA (Hons).

A Foundation Degree is a Higher Education qualification which combines learning in the workplace and classroom, involving specialised skills and knowledge to improve your career.

Delivered through partnerships between employers, Universities and local Colleges, they enable you to gain the specific skills that employers are looking for, and can be studied on either a full-time or a part-time basis. Foundation Degrees offer students with work or family commitments the flexibility to study a Higher Education qualification close to home. They provide valuable work experience which allows students to put their learning into practice in a work environment. Tuition fees are lower than University fees.

Successful graduates may be offered a route to an Honours Degree at University, equipped with a powerful combination of technical skills, academic knowledge and other skills that employers are increasingly demanding. Foundation Degree courses in colleges normally have smaller class sizes and more one-to-one contact with tutors than Honours degrees.

Entry criteria for some College courses may be enhanced where courses are over-subscribed.

Courses at North West Regional College are viable once sufficient numbers have enrolled. Where a course is offered at more than one College campus, there may only be sufficient enrolments to offer it at one location. In this case students may be offered the opportunity to undertake the programme at an alternative College campus other than their first choice.
