The communication and development of ideas is emphasised as well as providing a broad understanding of industry relevant technologies. The course structure is specifically designed to enable students to prepare a portfolio of artwork for entry to third level art and design colleges and to give expert support and guidance in making college choices. This course is designed to:

• Provide fundamental knowledge and understanding of art and design processes with a special emphasis graphic design and visual communication processes.

• Develop transferable skills of visual communication and self expression

• Identify unique personal abilities and strengths in art and design

• Enable the preparation of a portfolio of artwork to gain entry to third level courses.

Progression to Higher Education:

• Successful completion of this Level 5 Award may lead to entry into the Level 6 Courses at GTI; Drawing and Visual Inquiry or Animation.
