Programme structure
This is a single semester programme which may be commenced in Sept. or Jan. each year. The programme combines online learning with three contact days in University College Dublin during the programme term (possibly a weekday/Saturday). Students will benefit from:

Hide-The provision of in depth up to date knowledge and debate about key issues in all aspects of elder abuse, including detection, reporting, investigation, caring for victims and prevention of elder abuse in acute, chronic and community care. The programme will also cover contextual issues related to elder abuse such as ageism, mental capacity, the sociology of ageing, etc.

Programme Features
•The first online programme globally to provide education on the topic of elder abuse.
•Classes are via live online classes which allows students to participate in the lecture from any setting that facilitates broadband. Classes are also recorded so students can work around commitments.
•Excellent support from academic, education technology and administrative departments.
•Assessments are based on the students own area and linking theory to practice.

Programme Aims
This programme aims to enhance practice related to the prevention, identification and management of elder abuse. Students will be encouraged to critically engage with current literature and reflect on its application to their own practice area.

Who is the programme for?
This is a multi-disciplinary programme focusing on the management of elder abuse. Applicants may work within either the public or private sector, but must have engagement with older people.

What will I learn?
The programme covers the fundamentals of the management of elder abuse taking into account the protection of older people within front line practice and within organisational systems.

You will benefit by gaining a greater understanding into the complexities of elder abuse and the programme is focused on making tangible changes within your own practice area.
