Hide-The School of Mathematical Sciences carries out research in a wide variety of areas of mathematics and cognate disciplines. These include computational astrophysics, difference and differential equations, differential geometry, financial mathematics, general relativity, group theory, mathematics education, numerical analysis, singular perturbation theory, and stochastic analysis. School members are affiliated to a number of institutional and national research centres, including the Centre for the Advancement of Science and Maths Teaching and Learning (CASTeL), the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) and the Financial Mathematics and Computation Cluster (FMC2).
|
| Research Areas |
The School has a wide range of expertise in mathematics, modelling, finance, actuarial science and education.
The research done in the School broadly falls under five headings:
•Algebra, Geometry & Number Theory
•Differential Equations (qualitative theory, numerical solution, stochastic)
•Financial Mathematics
•Theoretical Physics (astrophysics, gauge theories, gravitation, relativity)
•Mathematics Education
