This course offers participants who would like to improve and develop their artistic skills an opportunity to do so on a part-time basis. Students will partake in a wide range of art and craft related subjects, placing emphasis on enjoyment and art as a hobby.
The course is geared towards people who have an interest in this area and would like to gain some professional training; and also for people who would like to take on art as a new hobby.
The course will take place over a two year period to enable a wide range of subjects to be covered. Each individual student will decide if he/she would like to pursue the second year.
This course offers students the opportunity to explore, experiment and learn a wide range of Art & Craft techniques through 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art. No previous experience in Art is required for this course.

The drawing course introduces students to charcoal, pencil, pastel, inks and a range of alternative materials in a variety of subjects: figure drawing, still life, self-portraiture and utilising fun modern techniques training the eye to see.
Painting 5N1302
The painting module covers oil painting, water-colour, acrylic and alternative materials. Subject matter includes painting, still life and free expression. It is an intensive introductory course.
Printmaking 5N1373
This module introduces students to Wood Block, Photo Etching, Mono-printing and Stencil Printing, and builds a strong foundation on the concepts of Intaglio and Relief Printing.
Sculpture 5N1918
On this course students will learn how to manipulate and mix varied materials to create a totally original art piece. They will also be encouraged to develop their own ideas using new and unusual materials.
Combined Materials 5N0764
The combined materials module is a mixed media/textiles module where students can experience and explore the field of experimental media combinations.
Collage Techniques 5N0761
This module offers aspiring artists with creative ideas the opportunity to express their ideas using a variety of materials. By using collage techniques with fabrics, tissue paper, photographs and other media, you can create colourful, eye-catching patterns.
Communications 5N0690
The purpose of this module is to facilitate learners to acquire communications skills relevant to vocational, personal and interpersonal development and to explore the use of modern information and communications technology (ICT), in personal and vocational life. It enables the learner to take responsibility for his/her own learning.
Work Experience 5N1356
The purpose of this module is to provide learners with the personal knowledge, skills and capacity to participate in a suitable work placement under supervision for a limited time. Work experience includes observation of good timekeeping, working independently while under general direction, meeting deadlines, personal presentation, communication, adherence to health, safety and other relevant regulations.
Ceramics 5N0759
The purpose of this module is to provide students with an appreciation and understanding of ceramics through a variety of processes and techniques. This will enable students to use clay as a creative medium producing work of visual and technical quality.
