Hide-Fees
The Bachelor in Education (Primary Teaching) is covered by the Free Fees initiative which means that most students will pay only the annual Student Contribution. The Department of Education and Skills does not cover tuition fees for students on MIEs Bachelor in Science courses and therefore tuition fees are charged directly to students. Marino Institute of Education is committed to retaining its fees on the Bachelor in Science courses at the same level as the Student Contribution which applies on publicly funded courses. A grant or tax relief on fees paid may be available.
Contact the Institute directly for details of fees for other courses in 20182019.

Hide-What is the B.Sc. in Early Childhood Education?
The quality of education and care that children receive in the earliest years of their lives has a huge influence on their subsequent education and happiness. In order to enhance existing provision of courses for preparing early childhood practitioners, Marino Institute of Education is delighted to offer this level 8 degree which is accredited by Trinity College Dublin, The University of Dublin. The flexible delivery of this course makes it attractive both to those who intend to work in the sector and to those who are already employed there.
What Will I Study?
Students will study a wide range of courses to help them become knowledgeable, dedicated early childhood practitioners. These include child psychology, play, language and literacy, enquiry-based learning, child care and protection, arts and the early years. You will learn about educators who have influenced the education of young children, including Montessori, Froebel and Vygotsky. You will learn about the Aistear programme and will take education placements in a variety of early childhood settings.
Field Placement
A key part of this degree course is the flexibility of its delivery. Although each year is full-time, classes online and face to face will be scheduled to accommodate a wide range of students. That includes students who have just completed the Leaving Certificate or FETAC qualifications and those who are currently employed in the early childhood education and care sector.
