Participants taking this module as part of the Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing Technology or the Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Technology must meet the entry requirements outlined on the relevant course pages.

Course Content Aims
To provide the learner with a broad knowledge of modern maintenance strategies, management approaches and control systems.

Having successfully completed this module, the learner will be able to:
1. Explain the function and strategies of maintenance in manufacturing industry
2. Organise a maintenance planning and control system
3. Compare and select computerised maintenance management systems
4. Monitor maintenance quality control
5. State industrial safety procedures.
Subjects Taught Maintenance in manufacturing industry, Planned maintenance, Predictive maintenance, Maintenance organisation, Work planning and scheduling, Computerised maintenance management Systems (CMMS), Supervisory management, Safety management, Safety and health at work regulations, Factories acts, Maintenance and ISO 9000, ISO 14000.
Assessment Method Each taught module has a programme of continuous assessment worth 50% and a final exam worth 50%. It is necessary to pass both elements to achieve an award in the module.
