Hide-Midwives are increasingly caring for women with complex healthcare needs during the antenatal, intranatal and postnatal period. When caring for such women, a deeper more specialised knowledge base is required to effectively implement a high standard of care. Midwives need to have a knowledge base in which he/she can identify subtle deterioration in a woman’s condition and in doing so, incorporate timely and appropriate care management. This programme will allow midwives who care for the acutely ill woman to develop their knowledge in the assessment and management of the acutely ill woman and also to recognise acute deterioration.
